This Is the First Time We’ve Ever Seen Lizzo Embrace the ‘No Makeup-Makeup’ Look — See Photos – Allure

There’s absolutely no doubt in our minds that Lizzo loves bold makeup looks more than anything. This year alone, she’s shown us how to master the art of dyeing your eyebrows pink and purple and how to pull off blue eye shadow and mascara. But trust us, that’s only a small fraction of the looks that the singer has served this year.

Now, it appears that the tables have turned and the singer has chosen to embrace the ‘no-makeup makeup look’ over the bold and experimental looks that she’s known for. The singer shared four photos of her pared down beat in an Instagram carousel on December 29.

Lizzo’s natural makeup look was created by her go-to makeup artist Alexx Mayo. Mayo went for a subtle glow on the cheekbones, a soft, glossy lip, and moderately curled eyelashes.

The singer’s bleached eyebrows from June of 2021 also made an appearance. Per Mayo’s caption from his Instagram post of the look, he said that this beat was actually done back in Lizzo’s “light brow era,” so it looks like she brought back the photos of this look to take a walk down memory lane, as many of us are doing ahead of the new year.

Bold, vibrant makeup looks have primarily taken a backseat this year (and in 2020) due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and this look from Lizzo is a prime example of what we can expect to see more of in 2022. Makeup artist Tommy Napoli previously told Allure that most people are now craving “an antithesis to layered and powder-heavy Instaglam makeup,” which is why natural-looking makeup looks are expected to rule in the coming months and beyond. A less-is-more makeup approach is something that we never see from Lizzo, but she still looks as gorgeous as ever.
